Robust Flatbed Table with Powerful Vacuum and Precision Movement
The LEJ-640FT boasts a robust, all-steel frame designed to reduce vibration while supporting materials of up to 100kg. The 1625mm x 2490mm bed handles popular sized sheets and unique substrates up to 150mm thick. Pin guides ensure precise registration for 2-sided prints or for repeated jobs. The zoned vacuum bed keeps media flat and ensures optimal suction for small or large boards. With 175 CFM suction, the commercial vacuum easily handles a wide range of substrates yet is quieter than a Dyson residential vacuum cleaner. Dual-gear step motors and rack and pinion drive system ensure accurate printing.
Optimised Print Quality and Performance
The LEJ-640FT delivers a maximum print speed of 12sqmtr/hr in High Speed CMYK mode. Like all VersaUV series printers, it can produce 1440 x 1440 dpi press proofs with flawlessly smooth gradations, super fine details and sharp text on actual substrates used for production.
EZ Handheld Controller
The LEJ-640FT includes a convenient and easy-to-use handheld controller to operate the unit and monitor the printer status. This allows the operator to keep the controller handy whether you are working in the front or the back of the printer.
Environmentally Friendly ECO-UV Ink
Roland's UV flatbed printers, including the VersaUV LEJ-640FT, use ECO-UV inks available in CMYK, White and Clear. Instant-drying and flexible, ECO-UV inks produce prints that can be stretched and applied around curved surfaces and edges without cracking. With long-lasting, highly energy-efficient UV LED lamps, our state-of-the-art UV LED curing system instantly cures ink to substrates. For added flexibility, upgrade to ECO-UV S – which expands up to 200 percent, allowing graphics to wrap uneven shapes, corners, curved surfaces, and more. Roland's unique automated Ink Circulation System circulates the white ink in the LEJ-640FT every eight hours to prevent the settling of pigments in the lines. In addition, this system controls the discharge of white ink, reducing ink waste and eliminating manual maintenance.
Flexible Ink Configuration Options for Unmatched Versatility
All VersaUV models support three ink configurations selectable at installation.
- CMYK + White + Clear Coat can be used for a wide range of applications, including prints with spot varnish, POP, window graphics, exhibit displays and unique textured graphics. White ink is ideal for producing rich, dense color graphics on clear and dark substrates. Clear Coat can be used as a spot gloss or matte highlights, to coat the entire image for a high-gloss finish, or overprinted for simulating embossing and other three-dimensional textures.
- Ideal for applications that require high opacity white, the CMYK + dual White mode achieves opacities up to 1.5 times higher than the single white configuration.
- The CMYK + dual Clear mode can build up three-dimensional textures twice as fast as the normal ink mode and can produce more dramatic effects with larger reliefs.
Unsurpassed Media Compatibility
The combination of advanced ECO-UV inks with low-heat, state-of-the-art UV-LED lamps enables VersaUV flatbed printers to print on virtually any substrate, delivering an unprecedented range of media compatibility and print quality.
ECO-UV ink adheres to a wide range of treated and untreated substrates, including foam boards, Sintra, acrylic, plywood, MDF and much more, with exceptional image quality. With up to 150mm of media clearance and 100kg. weight handling, printing on previously too thick or heavy materials is now a reality.
Enhanced Media Presets
The VersaUV series includes a wizard-based media settings menu that walks the user through all the necessary adjustments to ensure optimal print quality. These adjustments can be saved as a Media Preset that can be quickly reloaded when the same media is run. When invoked, it reconfigures all printing parameters with the pre-calibrated values, saving time and money by minimising the chances of user error. Up to eight Media Presets can be saved and named accordingly for easy identification.
State of the Art Curing System
The staggered arrangement of UV lamps, with the left lamp mounted in line with the print heads and the right lamp mounted forward, is unqiue Roland innovation. The VersaUV's ability to reposition its twin UV-LED lamps automatically increases productivity in high quality modes and allows simulation of matte and gloss varnishing effects.
Take advantage of the obvious productivty advantges of 2-sided printing of the LEJ-640FT. Pin guides ensure precise registration for each job, meaning you can quickly and easily run double sided or repeat print jobs. Plus with the ability to print edge-to-edge, you will save time in finishing and post print processes.
Automated Print Head Management - A built-in sensor checks for proper media thickness and automatically detects media height preventing head strikes and ensures highly reliable, 1440x1440 dpi printing on the widest range of substrates.
Long Life LED UV Lamps - VersaUV LED lamps last up to 10,000 hours which is ten times longer than conventional UV lamps.
Low Heat - While conventional UV lamps can reach temperatures as high as 800°C (1500°F) requiring complex heat management systems, the LED lamps on the VersaUV series generate very little heat. This ensures that the UV lamps virtually eliminate any heat-related risks such as substrate damage and head crash caused by media deformation.
Instant On/Off - LED lamps can be turned on and off instantly and are ready to use immediately after the printer is turned on. By contrast, conventional curing systems may take up to ten minutes to reach the targeted output level. Conventional curing systems also require complex, noisy and failure-prone shutter systems to protect substrates and head capping systems from exposure to UV light and heat.
Innovative Automated Ink Circulation System
The automated Ink Circulation System circulates the white ink in the LEJ-640FT every eight hours to prevent the settling of pigments in the lines. In addition, this system controls the discharge of white ink and minimizes waste by monitoring the white ink usage and the types of jobs that are printed.
Note that, due to the nature of white ink, the white ink cartridge still needs to be shaken prior to use each day as the ink in the cartridge is not circulated by this system.
